Contribution to the scientific advancement

During research career span, synthesized potential polymeric films for management of biotic and abiotic stresses in various pulse and oilseeds as carrier for bioagents, chemicals, nutrients etc. and being evaluating under field conditions.

Projects completed
  • Synthesis and evaluation of polymers for seed health and productivity of oilseed crops.
  • Production and characterization of protein hydrolysates from safflower seed and validation of their utility in animal nutrition
     
On-going Projects
  • Lignin extraction from agricultural waste and its applications in agriculture and industry
  • Mass production of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) and Beauveria bassiana, formulation as oil-based suspension concentrates singly and in combination and field evaluation
  • Development of practicable technologies for field level exploitation of consortia of microbial agents as ameliorators of biotic and abiotic stresses in crops.
  • Fabrication of Fe and Zn nanosystems as efficient nutrient sources
  • Exploitation of chitinolytic bacteria and development of effective formulation against major insect pests, diseases and plant parasitic nematodes of oilseed crops
  • Development of high throughput protocol to detect adulteration in oils and formulation of oil blends for enhanced nutritional quality and stability
  • A novel biopolymer based multilayer seed coating with Trichoderma and other microbial inputs and their tracking on applied surfaces in oilseed crops for integrated disease and nutrient management

Area of Research

Presently working on polymers as formulation carriers and nanosystems for its various delivery mechanisms. 

Area of expertise

Have experience in synthesis and characterization of different crosslinked hydrophilic superabsorbent, superporous hydrogel and polymeric films as carriers for crop protection inputs. Have expertise in synthesis of various compositions and combinations of biopolymeric films and its evaluation in seed health and converting these films as carrier for entrapment of microbial bioagents for various release patterns like fast and controlled patterns. Development of various formulations like WDG, SC for Bacillus thuriengenesis. Handling and development various polymers for seed enhancements. Giving trainings on seed coating and seed pelleting with existing materials along with bioagents and chemicals under agri-business incubators for new startups. A sound knowledge in handling instruments like GLC, HPLC, UV spectroscopy, NMR, Electron microscopes (scanning and transmission), elemental analyser, FT-IR, other Chomatography and spectroscopic instruments (HPTLC, TLC, COLUMN, PREPARATIVE, GC), XRD, kjeldahl, flame photometer, AAS (atomic absorption), DLS (nanoparticles & zeta analyser), rheometer, ICP, DSC etc.

Awards and recognition
  • Received Young Researcher Award for the work on "Evaluation of a novel biopolymer based Trichoderma harzianum, Th4d formulations against seed and soil borne disease of oilseed crops under field conditions" in the Satellite workshop on Trichoderma and Gliocladium on March 25, 2022 during IPSCONF2022 held at SKNAU, Jobner-Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.
